Test systems that want to detect all SARS-CoV-2 variants need to stay flexible and highly adaptable.

Transient gene expression in HEK cells is a highly suitable method to quickly produce sufficient amounts of proteins for research and development. In addition, stable CHO cell pools can be used for production upscaling to cater to larger demands. Comparing the binding activity of the Spike receptor-binding domain from HEK cells and stable CHO cell pools, we could demonstrate a very high correlation and comparable quality of the proteins from both expression systems.
